WCC Bailey Library Study Rooms and Study Areas

The Bailey Library has a number of study area options available for our users.

The Active Learning Zone is an area of the library where collaborative and group study is encouraged. This area is near the Children’s Literature and Periodical collections in the library. Movable whiteboards are available in this area.

The Quiet Study Zone is an area of the library from the Reference Collection to the General Collection where quiet, individual study is encouraged.

Group Study Rooms are available to users on a first-come first-served basis or by reservation. There are currently eight rooms designated for group study. The rooms are located on the outer perimeter of the first floor of the library.

Silent Study Rooms are available in GM 115 and GM 117. These rooms have study carrels with electrical outlets available. These rooms are unlocked and available for silent study to all library users.

User Services staff at the library will assist users in locating a room or area and check it out to the users if needed.

The library staff reserve the right to extend or decline reservations, and remove or reassign groups/individuals to ensure the appropriate utilization of study rooms.

Group Study Room Guidelines

  • Bailey Library Groups Study Rooms are GM 112, 114, 132, 134, 136, 138, 140, 142
  • Bailey Library Group Study Rooms are available for two (2) hour check out to current WCC students, faculty and staff with valid ID.
  • Renewals are based on room availability.
  • Students with library account blocks will need to resolve blocks before being allowed to check out a group study room.
  • All students, faculty and staff need to check out key at the User Services desk and return key to User Services Desk.
  • Groups must wait one (1) hour before checking out another room to give other groups a chance to utilize the group study rooms.
  • All applicable late fines and fees will be assessed for keys not returned on time.
  • Students, faculty and staff assume responsibility for any and all losses and damages incurred while utilizing group study rooms.
  • Rooms will remain locked at all times with door closed.
  • Minimum of two (2) people must remain in room at all times.
  • Personal belongings left unattended will be turned over to security.
  • The library staff reserve the right to remove or reassign groups to ensure the appropriate utilization of group study rooms.
  • Names of individuals who have checked out group study rooms will not be divulged.
  • Activities/behaviors not allowed in group study rooms, which may result in expulsion from room, include but are not limited to: disruptive behavior, threatening behavior, vandalism, failure to adhere to the Bailey Library and/or WCC student code of conduct

Group Study Rooms - Advance Reservations

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to make advance reservations for Bailey Library Group Study Rooms.

  • Two (2) hour reservations are limited to current WCC students, faculty and staff with valid ID.
  • All students, faculty and staff must make a reservation with the Access Services staff.
  • Contact 734-973-3429 or  .
  • All students, faculty and staff need to check out key at the User Services desk and return key when finished.
  • The library staff reserve the right to extend or decline reservations, and remove or reassign groups to ensure the appropriate utilization of group study rooms.
Reservations:
  • Groups must make reservations at least one day in advance.
  • Groups (2 or more students) may make a maximum of two (2) room reservations with in an eight (8) day period.
  • Group reservations may be made in two (2) hour blocks with renewals based on room availability.
  • Groups requesting extended reservations (more than 2 hours) must notify library staff at the time of reservation.
  • Group reservations have a ten (10) minute grace period to arrive. After the grace period, the reservation is cancelled and returned to general circulation.
  • All applicable late fines and fees will be assessed for keys not returned on time.
  • Students with blocks on their library account will be unable to make a reservation until block is resolved.
  • Rooms are reserved for groups in the order that the requests are received.

GM 119 Individual Study Room Guidelines

  • GM 119 Individual Study Room is available for 1 hour check out to current WCC students, faculty and staff with valid ID.
    • Students with library account blocks will need to resolve blocks before being allowed to check out a group study room.
  • All students, faculty and staff need to check out key at the User Services desk and return key to User Services Desk.
    • After returning the key individuals must wait 1 hour before checking out the individual study room to give other individuals a chance to utilize the individual study rooms.
  • All applicable late fines and fees will be assessed for keys not returned on time.
  • Students, faculty and staff assume responsibility for any and all losses and damages incurred while utilizing individual study room.
  • Room will remain locked at all times with door closed.
  • One person must remain in room at all times.
  • Personal belongings left unattended will be turned over to security.
  • The library staff reserve the right to remove or reassign individuals to ensure the appropriate utilization of group study rooms.
  • Names of individuals who have checked out individual study rooms will not be divulged.

Overdue fees: 50 cents/hr
Lost key: $100.00
Damage/cleaning: $50.00

Hours of Operation:

The Bailey Library will be closed until further notice. All items currently checked out will have the due date extended until we have a return date for campus.
